The Answer to this IGNOU FAQ (Frequently asked question) is :
Yes, IGNOU allows for improvement Exams , but with a slight twist.
You can appear in the IGNOU improvement exams after completing the IGNOU programme. For IGNOU, improvement exams are a help given to those IGNOU learners, who marginally get short of getting the First division or Second division marks.
The students of IGNOU Bachelor’s/Master’s degree program, can improve their Division/Class under the above rule, by appearing in term-end examination. The IGNOU improvement exam criteria is as under:
a) The students of Bachelor’s/Master’s degree program, who fall short of 2% marks to secure 2nd and 1st division.
b) The students of Master’s degree program only, who fall short 2% marks to secure overall 55% marks.
How To Apply for IGNOU Improvement ExamsAfter completing their IGNOU programme, the students who fulfill the above criteria, may apply in the prescribed application form from 1st to 30th April for June term-end examination and from 1st to 31st October for December term-end examination along with fee @ Rs. 500/- per course by means of demand draft drawn in favor of IGNOU and payable at New Delhi.
The improvement is permissible in term-end examination only and not in Practical/Lab courses, Project Workshop, Assignment and Seminar etc.
