NCERT to get University Status soon

Written by Anil Singh

Below are the reasons why Mr Sibal want NCERT to have a university tag:

1) Enable National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) to address essential issues and upcoming challenges in education sector.

2) Help its teachers draw professor level salary.

3) It would be easier to make NCERT a "center of education".

4) A university status will guide other organizations in the country to take the agenda of NCERT and its regional units forward.

5) With plenty of experience in imparting education, university status to NCERT will enable it to offer degrees and doctorates in the field of education. According to officials, the university status will enable NCERT confer BEd, MEd degrees and PhDs through its five regional educational colleges.
