According to Census 2011, there are 18,93,237 gas connections as against 3047001 families in Uttarakhand. This means that just 48 per cent of families in Uttarakhand have an LPG Connection. If one takes into account the fact that many of the families have multiple gas connections; then this percentage will be even lesser.

Thus 52 per cent or more families in Uttarakhand are dependent on traditional fuel sources like wood and kerosene oil.
