Uttarakhand Panchayat Raj Bill 2011 introduced in Assembly
Uttarakhand government yesterday introduced the first Panchayat Raj bill in the state assembly (first bill since state foundation).
The Bill, Uttarakhand Panchayat Raj Bill 2011, aimed at giving more powers at the grass-root level by decentralization of power in the hill state of Uttarakhand, was introduced in the Assembly by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prakash Pant.
The salient feature of the Uttarakhand Panchayat Raj Bill 2011 is that two separate acts on Zila Panchayat and Gram Panchayat have been merged together in the new bill. The bill is expected to be passed in Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha today.
