Functional Literates in Uttarakhand to get Literacy Certificate
Functional Literates in Uttarakhand to get Literacy Certificate from Uttarakhand Open University.
If someone in your family/friends is 'Functionally Literate' – Not went to school, but knows how to read, write and calculate – then he/she can get a Literacy Certificate.
Uttarakhand State Literacy Mission (उत्तराखंड राज्य साक्षरता मिशन) plans to register such functional literates in the State literacy Register (राज्य साक्षर पंजिका).
To get the Literacy certificate, a functional literate will have to take an examination.
Uttarakhand State Literacy Mission (उत्तराखंड राज्य साक्षरता मिशन) will conduct a "Basic Literacy Examination" on March 18 2012. The mission plans to conduct the examination in every Primary School and Public Service Centres in six districts -- Haridwar, Tehri, Uttarkashi, UdhamSinghNagar, Champavat and Bageshwar.
This is the forth time, Uttarakhand State Literacy Mission, will be conducting the examination.
Examination format:
In the examination a candidate will have to take three Papers of 50 marks each. The Basic Literacy Examination will take place from 10 AM to 5 PM on March 18, 2012. The timings indicate that the exam plan is flexible, allowing examinees to take examination at any time of the day, as per their convenience.
Eligibility: Anyone, who knows how to read, write and calculate; but has no formal education is eligible for the examination. This means, anyone who is called an illiterate in formal terms, can take the examination.
What if someone loses the Opportunity this time:
As already said, this is the fourth time Uttarakhand State Literacy Mission is conducting this Basic Literacy Examination. Hence, if a person is unable to take the March 18 exam; then he/she can take the next examination. The Basic Literacy Examination is held two times a year.
Success so far:
In the past three exams, 1 Lakh 33 thousand people in Uttarakhand got the Basic Literacy Certificate. For the march 18, 2012 examination, the Mission aims to give certificates to at least 1 Lakh functional literates.
