Biotechnology Park to be set up at Pantnagar Uttarakhand

Written by Anil Singh

Uttarakhand Government planned to set up a an IT-BT Park or Information Technology – Biotechnology par at the industrial hub of Pantnagar three years ago, but because of some reasons it had to shelve the project.

Notably, the lack of adequate land for the IT-BT park, along with a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), was one of the main reasons postponement of the project. The project was estimated to occupy 500 acres of land at Pantnagar.

With the assembly elections next year, the Uttarakhand government has put life to the project once again. According to some reports, Uttarakhand Governerment has roped in Ernst and Young as a marketing consultant in the project entailing an investment of Rs 150 to Rs 300 crore. Hyderabad-based Ramky Infra Consulting Pvt Ltd had been given the task of project designing.

The Pantnagar Biotech Part will be the second IT-BT project in Uttarakahnd, after IT Park at Sahastradhara Road in Dehra Dun.
