Ph.D. AND M. TECH PROGRAMMES at Defence Institute Pune | DIAT Pune invites Applications for PROGRAMMES JULY 2012 BATCH

DEFENCE INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY, DIAT (A Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956), (An Autonomous Organisation fully funded by Department of Defence Research & Development, Ministry of Defence), GIRINAGAR, PUNE 411 025, which contributes significantly in the sphere of Human Resources Development for the Defence Forces by way of imparting education and training on Defence Technology to the officers of Armed Forces, Scientists of the DRDO, Technical Officers of the Ordnance Factory Board, Directorate of Quality Assurance, Public Sector Undertakings, General Public and friendly foreign countries invites conducts Ph.D, M.S. and M.Tech. Programmes and offers a number of short-term courses.

2.	Ph.D. PROGRAMME DIAT offers admission to PhD in the frontier areas of Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics and Materials engineering.

Eligibility:       a.  55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.E./M. Tech. for Ph.D. in Engineering:

Master of Science with 55% marks or equivalent CGPA for Ph.D. in Science.

b.      GATE Score / UGC-CSIR NET certificate.

Candidates who are in the final semester of their PG degree are eligible to apply; Mark sheet up to the last semester should be produced during interview. Provisional passing certificate and mark sheet of the final semester are required to be submitted before commencement of program.

Selection:        Admission to Ph.D. will be based on the performance in the entrance exam (written test) conducted by the department concerned followed by personal interview. 

Scholarship:   Selected students will be eligible for scholarship as per MHRD guidelines.

6.	Lasers & Electro-optics		The candidate should possess a Masters degree or equivalent in Physics/Applied Physics / Electronics / Electronic Science or a B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. (Engineering) degree or equivalent in Electronics / Electrical/ Communication / Telecommunication / Electronics and Communication Engineering / Computer Science / Engineering Physics, M.Sc. in Computer Science with Physics and Mathematics at graduate level.
7.	Modeling and Simulation		M.Sc. in Mathematics / Physics / Statistics /O.R./ Computer Science  (Provided mathematics is one of the subject at the graduate level), Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Technology. Proficiency in computer programming is essential

Eligibility:

a.         Qualification: 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination as indicated against the disciplines concerned and valid GATE Score / UGC-CSIR NET Certificate.  The candidates who are in the final semester of their degree are eligible to apply; Mark sheet up to the last semester should be enclosed. Provisional certificate in such cases along with Mark sheet   of the final semester are required to be submitted before commencement of program.

b.         Age limit:        Not more than 26 years as on July 1, 2012. 

                                    Relaxations as per GOI rules apply to SC / ST / OBC / PH applicants.

Scholarship: As per MHRD/AICTE guidelines [Rs.8000/- per month at present]

GENERAL

4.         BOARDING / LODGING

Selected candidates will be provided accommodation and mess facilities on payment basis and it is mandatory that they stay in the Institute campus.  The present monthly charge towards boarding and lodging is ~Rs.6000/-. 

5.         HOW TO APPLY

Candidates have to apply online.  Application form can be downloaded from DIAT(DU) website www.diat.ac.in  or www.diatonline.co.in.   Application fee of Rs.200/- (100/- for SC/ST candidates)  per programme is required to be paid by  online to DIAT Power Jyoti Account No 32020073738 with SBI Girinagar Branch, Pune 411 025.   The application has to be uploaded as per the instructions provided in the website, www.diatonline.co.in.  No hard copy to be sent to DIAT.  However, candidates have to bring a print out of the application submission confirmation along with proof of payment, at the time of test / interview. 

6.  COURSE FEE AND OTHER CHARGES

Selected candidates for the PhD/ M.Tech programs are required to pay Semester Fee @Rs.5000/- per semester payable immediately on joining and a caution deposit (refundable at the end of the course minus dues if any) of Rs.10,000/-, payable in three monthly installments commencing from July 2012.
