Does it help to have the government of a party, which rules at Centre?

Practical reasons say: It helps.

The Union Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Subodh Kant Sahay, has assured the new Uttarakhand CM Mr. Vijay Bahuguna that he will prepare a roadmap for tourism development in Uttarakhand.

Meeting the CM at his residence, the Union Minister of Tourism Subodh Kant Sahay assured Uttarakhand CM that the Union Government will provide all necessary assistance to the State Government for tourism development in Uttarakhand.

What is in plans?

1) The new tourism road map will be chalked out keeping in view Uttarakhand’s potential for spiritual, nature and adventure tourism.

2) Necessary assistance will be demanded from the Centre for developing the Tehri Dam area into a mega-tourism circuit. There are numerous tourist attractions at and near the Tehri Dam reservoir; like boating and water sports: Para sailing. The idea will be to transform the Tehri Dam reservoir and nearby area into a mega-tourism circuit and providing necessary facilities to tourists will make this an international tourist attraction. If the project attains the status of a Mega project then the CM hopes, it will not only improve the local economy but also generate employment on a large scale without exerting any detrimental effect on the environment.

3) Notably, in a conference of Tourism Ministers of north Indian States in April 2011, the Union Tourism Minister had stressed on the need for investing Rs 250 crore to develop a mega-tourism circuit in Tehri Dam area and had also stressed on the need for special focus on Auli, only destination in Uttarakhand capable of winter ports.
