Barely a week after arch rival Honda launched its cheapest bike in India, the Yuga, with a price tag of Rs. 44,642; Japanese two-wheeler major Yamaha has also announced its plans to develop the world’s cheapest motorcycle, to be priced at under USD 500, for markets such as India and Africa.

Thus Yamaha’s cheapest bike for India will cost around Rs 25000.

Yamaha believes that the bike, which would be produced in India, will have many takers in the billion plus country. Right now, the YBR 110 and Yamaha Crux are the cheapest motorcycle from Yamaha stable; with Yamaha’s cheapest bike being the 110cc Crux at Rs. 38,365. This bike is sold in India and China.

Now that a motorcycle will come at a price lower than Apple's ipad3 ($499), will put many in a 'DharmaSankat', if they have to choose between the two.
