It'll be foolish to ask for President Rule in Uttarakhand!

Politicians will do Politics... But we must take their word with a pinch of Salt. President Rule in Uttarakhand may be a foolish move.

Amidst Uttarakhand Government trying to get the state back to normalcy, a delegation of BJP leaders from Uttarakhand on Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and demanded imposition of President's rule in the flood-ravaged state on the grounds that the Congress government there had failed to deliver. The delegation led by former Uttarakhand chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and comprising Tehri Garhwal MP Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah among others met Singh for 30 minutes and apprised him of the situation on the ground in the flood-hit state.

The delegation alleged that ministers and the Chief Minister were not present in the affected areas to help the stranded people. The BJP has also demanded a white paper on how many people have died in the disaster, how many are still missing, the number of animals which died and the loss of property.

The delegation also apprised (in Hindi, "Avgat Karaya") the PM of some suggestions, which included stationing a unit of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in Uttarakhand on a permanent basis, installation of Doppler radars to get prior warning of cloud burst and forming a Himalaya Development Authority for the region. The BJP leaders also demanded that homes should be provided to the displaced people and adequate arrangements should be made for taking care of orphans.

The PM assured the delegation of adequate thought on suggestions and better coordination in the aftermath of Uttarakhand floods.

Politicians will do Politics... But we must take their word with a pinch of Salt:

Politicians will do Politics... and there's nothing wrong in it. It's their profession, so they have every right to exercise the tools of their job. But we must take their word with a pinch of Salt.

The BJP Delegation's every suggestion or complaint to the PM is valid, except for the imposition of the President's Rule in Uttarakhand. Why I think so?

The reasons is simple. Congress is ruling in Uttarakhand. Congress is ruling at Centre. If the Uttarakhand Flood relief effort is failing when Congress is ruling both at the Centre and the State; then it will be foolish to assume that things will become perfect if BJP somehow comes to power in Uttarakhand on the pretext of President's rule.

The demand of a President's rule in Uttarakhand would have been equally foolish, if BJP was ruling both Uttarakhand & Centre, and the Congress makes such a demand. Remember, Uttarakhand is getting easy money for disaster relief simply because we have the same party ruling at Centre and state. Things would be very different if different parties were at Centre and State. Hence lets not create an obstacle right now, and allow our Uttarakhand brothers to get the compensation for their Loss.
