Amidst the hustle and bustle of election coverage on TV News Channels, websites, blogs and online social networks, I stumbled upon the movie -- "Batti Gul, Meter Chalu" with Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor ,Yami Gautam in lead roles.

The movie is about a group of friends based in Tehri Garhwal starting a small business (Start-up) and facing systemic corruption (UPCL). Hence the name "Batti Gul, Meter Chalu".

I found the movie extremely bad. I found it offending as well.

All the movie offers is stereotyping Uttarakhand Hill people as stupids, who cannot complete one single sentence WITHOUT USING THE WORD "Bal". The movie makers are so obsessed with this stereotype that the viewer gets simply irritated by it.

What is interesting though is that the movie managed to make Rs. 66 crore. Who spent that kind of money on such a bad movie!
